Classical Piano Matters
(lecture/recital series)

In these lecture/recitals, Swansbourne discusses seminal works from the piano repertoire. He places the compositions in the context of their times and their composers’ lives, then examines the music in a way that brings to light the intentions of the composer structurally, emotionally and artistically. The talks are lavishly illustrated at the piano and usually conclude with a performance of the complete work.

They are designed primarily for the musical layman who is interested in music but feels a lack of understanding for it. Technical terms are kept to a bare minimum and are amply explained when used. Students of music and teachers can also benefit from the insights presented in these lecture/recitals.
